Foot-age!
I’ve been watching all the footage and preparing to edit with the AMAZING Michelle Witten. We’ve been prepping everything: I ordered a new, big, amazing, shiny drive for all our magical mystery work. If it arrives this week, we hope to start banging out some rough scenes ASAP.
I’ve watched over 2/3 of the footage. By watching, I mean watching EVERY SECOND of EVERY TAKE of EVERY piece of footage. Michelle and I will watch it all again, multiple times, but I’ve been taking notes on things I definitely love or hate so I’m in the best shape possible to hit the editing ground running. I’m making a storyboard on my wall and it’s filling up very nicely. Tonight I made it through day 4 of the 6 days over which the film takes place. Days 5 and 6 are not super intense or tedious, so there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!
As an incentive to stay motivated, I’ve taken the advice of an editor friend and will print a screenshot of each scene once I’ve gone through it’s footage. It’s awesome to see the story in a linear and visual way. Here are some highlights from the past two days:

Global Thank You’s
I’m almost done sending post cards to everyone who backed this film on Kickstarter. It’s been really interesting and awesome to mail postcards to such a wide spectrum of supporters. From old friends in far away places to current friends just blocks away, it’s been satisfying and personal thanking people.
I especially like sending international postcards. Being an avid collector of postcards and a snail-mail enthusiast, I know receiving something from far away can be very exciting. Today alone saw four postcards off to Warsaw, Canada, England, and Hawaii. So amazing. Some of these were to people I have never met in my life. Just think: they helped make this film a reality!
Best friend/graphic designer extraordinaire Amanda designed these cards, by the way. Thanks, Amanda <3

This is what applying for a grant for post-production funds looks like.

Post Traumatic Film Disorder
We wrapped shooting yesterday. It’s been such an incredible, crazy whirlwind. It seems like we’ve been shooting forever, but I can’t believe how quickly we went from nothing to being in overdrive all the time to being done.
The most humbling thing about it all is the overwhelming amount of support and belief that my friends and colleagues have shown towards me and this project. I am so lucky to be surrounded by a group of creative and loving people.
Oh, and the footage looks awesome.
Now I venture into post-production mode. But first, I sleep.
